Case Study: Korn/Ferry
The Company
Korn/Ferry is the world’s leading provider of recruitment solutions. The European headquarters,
based in London were opened in 1972. Following considerable company growth a decision was taken to move the company to more suitable offices. The prestigious address selected was 123 Buckingham Palace Road.
The requirements
As a company with a high degree of dependence on sophisticated IT systems, the move was more than simply packing up desks. The move also meant a complete re-think of Korn/Ferry’s networking infrastructure. A strategic decision was made to employ state-of-the-art Category 6 network cabling and a powerful Cisco network infrastructure.
Cisco networking
Following competitive tendering, SMT were selected to provide the 1200 outlet installation and the Cisco network infrastructure. The Cisco network comprised two Cisco Catalyst 6500 chassis-based, high-performance switches. These were configured to provide a fault resilient infrastructure with exceptional performance. This included layer 2 and layer 3 switching for Ethernet, Fast Ethernet and Gigabit devices. Included within the resilient structure were dual redundant power supplies, dual supervisor engines, dual high-speed back planes. With each of the business’s Compaq servers having dual fail-over Gigabit Ethernet cards, the entire system was designed to provide total reliability and performance.
Molex Powercat6
As part of the complete building re-fit, a Molex Powercat6 flood wiring system totalling 1,200 Category 6 outlets was installed in the offices. The Category 6 solution offered Korn/Ferry the most up to date and technologically advanced system with a very high degree of future proofing.
Warranty
The comprehensive warranty was particularly important to Korn/Ferry. The SMT lifetime guarantee is supported by a 25-year Molex warranty. Molex were consulted at every stage in the project, and regular inspections ensured that the cabling was installed correctly and complied with the stringent Category 6 standards as well as Korn/Ferry’s network requirements.
