SMT Network Solutions began as a division of the SMT Products group, which was founded in 1963 as Slough Machine Tool Company Ltd, for the development and manufacture of industrial machinery. The company grew during the 1960s and 1970s with the development of advanced features, including electronic and CNC controlled machines and machine tools. For over three decades now, SMT has amassed a wide array of skills and experience in many specialist technical and engineering fields.

Our aim is to provide customers with the products and services they require to the specification best suited to their needs. During the 1980s operations were rationalised into specialized divisions, and the Data Networks Division was formed. As the business developed, SMT extended its services from the industrial setting, with its demanding requirements, to the commercial sector, taking with it the same commitment to reliability and quality. For 10 years the Data Networks Division of SMT Products established itself as a specialist provider of networking solutions in partnership with computer systems professionals across the UK. On 1 September 1997, SMT Network Solutions was formed after an MBO of SMT Products’ Data Networks Division.
